Cindy: Wow, Flash, that was quite an introduction.
I know. I wanted to make sure you weren’t going to write me out of the book for forgetting to give you a turn.
Cindy: Don’t be silly. I’d never write you out, you’re the best character ever!
Whew! In that case, let’s get back to Operation Story Share. What book are you going to recommend to my fans today?
Cindy: A book by my favorite author, Roald Dahl. He’s written a lot of awesome books, but the one I like best is Matilda. I love stories that have a touch of the absurd, and they’re even better if you add a pinch of magic. Matilda has both.
I’d say this story’s a bit absurd—what about those awful parents?
Cindy: I know! I don’t know who I like better, Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood or Miss Trunchbull, the beastly headmaster at Matilda’s school. They’re all deliciously horrible. Or as Miss Trunchbull might say, “They’re real warts.”
What’s your favorite part?
Cindy: Oh, that’s easy! The scene where Miss Trunchbull forces Bruce Bogtrotter to eat a huge chocolate cake in front of the whole school. It’s even funnier in the movie.
That’s right, I forgot there was a movie. Which do you like better? The book or the movie?
Cindy: I’m not sure I can choose, they’re both really good in their own ways. There are some parts in the book that didn’t make it into the movie, but the movie does an excellent job of portraying the characters.
